Boeing and LOT Polish Airlines Announce Order for Up to 14 787s

WARSAW, Poland, Sept. 7, 2005 -- Boeing [NYSE:BA] and LOT Polish Airlines today reached an agreement for up to 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, making LOT the first global network carrier in Europe to operate the world's newest and most technologically advanced commercial jetliner.

Space Station (ISS) Status 9/2/05

The crew of the International Space Station (ISS) completed 20 weeks in space, focused on an upcoming cargo ship exchange and computer software transition.

Expedition 11 Commander Sergei Krikalev and NASA Flight Engineer and Science Officer John Phillips packed the docked ISS Progress 18 supply ship with items no longer needed on the Station. The unpiloted cargo craft undocks from the Zvezda module at 6:23 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, Sept. 7. The Progress will burn up in Earth's atmosphere above the Pacific Ocean.

NASA's MRO On Its Way
A seven-month flight to Mars began this morning for NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). It will inspect the red planet in fine detail and assist future landers.

An Atlas V launch vehicle, 19 stories tall with the two-ton spacecraft on top, roared away from Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 7:43 a.m. EDT. Its powerful first stage consumed about 200 tons of fuel and oxygen in just over four minutes, then dropped away to let the upper stage finish the job of putting the spacecraft on a path toward Mars. This was the first launch of an interplanetary mission on an Atlas V.

LOUIS, August 10, 2005 – Two Boeing [NYSE: BA] Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems (J-UCAS) X-45A unmanned aircraft successfully completed a graduation exercise when they flew their most challenging simulated combat mission today at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.

Space Shuttle Discovery Safely Home
The Space Shuttle Discovery is home after a 14-day, 5.8 million-mile journey in space. The mission included breathtaking in-orbit maneuvers, tests of new equipment and procedures, a first-of-its-kind spacewalking repair, and virtual visits with two heads of state.

Commander Eileen Collins and the crew of the STS-114 mission, Jim Kelly, Charlie Camarda, Wendy Lawrence, Steve Robinson, Andy Thomas and Soichi Noguchi of Japan, landed at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., at 8:12 EDT this morning.
