NASA says the newest Advanced Health Management System (AHMS) main engine computer upgrade is flying on Atlantis during the STS-117 Mission to the International Space Station (ISS). AHMS was developed by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and is designed to provide new monitoring and insight into the performance of the two most critical components of the space shuttle main engine: the high-pressure fuel turbopump and the high-pressure oxidizer turbopump.

Airbus announced the first A318 delivery to LAN Airlines in Chile. The delivery aircraft was equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW6000 engines, and according to the manufacturer's statement, is the first of a 20 plane order awarded in 2005. The aircraft will operate domestically.

WASHINGTON - NASA's MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry,
and Ranging (MESSENGER) spacecraft made its closest pass to
Venus on Tuesday, June 5, 2007. This will place the spacecraft on target
for a flyby of Mercury in January 2008. MESSENGER will be the first
probe to visit the innermost planet in more than 30 years.

April 23, 2007 - AeroSpaceNews.com - Update - A Blue Angel F/A-18A Hornet crashed during an airshow in Beaufort, South Carolina. According to a statement issued by Navy Public Affairs, the pilot was killed and one civilian suffered minor injuries.

The official U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, the Blue Angels fly versions of the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet. According to the official Blue Angel's website, the unit operates 10 single seat F/A-18A and two 2-seat F/A-18B aircraft.

April 21, 2007 - AeroSpaceNews.com - Published reports state that a Blue Angel solo team member has crashed during an airshow in Beaufort, South Carolina. The Associated Press has a photo they claim depicts smoke rising from trees after the accident.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) terminated U.S. Navy Captain Lisa Nowak duties as an astronaut, according to a statement issued by the agency March 7, 2007.
"U.S. Navy Capt. Lisa Nowak's detail as a NASA astronaut has been terminated, effective March 8, by mutual agreement between NASA and the U.S. Navy."
