Airbus A380 Earns FAA - EASA Type Certification
The troubled Airbus A380 was issued a joint type certification by authorities of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The approval came on December 12, 2006, and applies to the version equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 900 jet engines.

US Air Trying to Buy Delta For $8 Billion
In a classic hostile take over attempt, US Airways is trying to tempt the creditors of bankrupt Delta Airlines with an offer of $4 billion in cash and another $4 billion in stock.

Delta management is resisting the effort even though its name would likely survive if the bid by US Airways is successful.

Boeing Wins HH-47 Contract For USAF CSAR Helicopters
The United States Air Force (USAF) has selected the conventional HH-47 helicopter from Boeing to fulfill the requirements of its CSAR-X competition. The tandem rotor design is derived from the long serving core CH-47 Chinook family of rotorcraft first built for the United States Army, as well as the Navy and Marine Corps CH-46 SeaKnight, a close cousin.
