Airline News Video - There has been an accident at London's Heathrow Airport where a British Airways Boeing B-777 appears to have landed short of the runway. The widebody aircraft was operating as British Airways flight BA38 from Beijing.
News reports say that the emergency evacuation slides were deployed and all passengers left the aircraft. Three injuries were reported.
A statement issued by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) indicates the accident aircraft is a Boeing 777-300 and it landed short of runway 27 Left at Heathrow. It went on to say that the accident occurred at 12:42 p.m. local time. It also confirmed that the passengers deplaned via the emergency slides and that only minor injuries were reported.
According to the NTSB, the UK's Air Accident Investigation Branch or AAIB will be the lead investigation agency as one would expect for a crash such as this in London.

Boeing announced another delay in the first flight of the 787. Today's statement said the new date shifts the first flight from the end of the first quarter of 2008 to "around the end of the second quarter to provide additional time to complete assembly of the first airplane." Boeing says deliveries are will likely begin in early 2009, not late 2008.
"The fundamental design and technologies of the 787 remain sound," said Scott Carson, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "However, we continue to be challenged by start-up issues in our factory and in our extended global supply-chain.

AeroSpaceNews.com - According to the United States Air Force, older Boeing F-15 Eagle Fighters have a defect in a structural element of the aircraft called a longeron which has caused cracking in nearly 200 aircraft in the fleet and at least one crash.
As shown in the video below, the accident aircraft's pilot managed to eject safely as the F-15 broke apart just behind the cockpit. A large number of F-15s were grounded and some will remain so pending a decision from the Air Force on the best course of action to repair the defect, if that proves to be cost effective.

All on board a Boeing MD-83 jet that crashed in Isparta, Turkey, early Friday, were killed when the plane went down just before landing. Initial reports indicate weather was not a factor in the crash of the Atlasjet airliner.
Some published accounts state that the pilot had told the tower the airport was in sight prior to the crash in rugged terrain on a mountain at about 5,000 feet.

An Airbus A340-600 crashed into a wall at Toulouse Airport in France injuring as many as ten. Painted in the livery of Etihad Airways (Abu Dhabi), reports claim the airliner was engaged in engine tests when the accident occurred.
