Airbus A380 First Passenger Test Flight Print
Airline News
Airbus says their A380 Mega Jumbo Jet took off from Blagnac International Airport in Toulouse, France, at 09:58 am local time September 4th. What made the trip historic and noteworthy was the payload of 474 passengers on board for the first in a series of four long flights or "Early Long Flights." During this flight and others, the passengers, made up of Airbus employees and cabin experts, will put the large plane's cabin through its paces.

Performing the flights is the third A380 test aircraft, known as MSN002, which has been fitted in Hamburg, Germany, with a full cabin in a three-class configuration with 474 seats. The flight was conducted as a standard airline service.

The plane was commanded by Captain Frank Chapman, Experimental Test Pilot. His co-pilot was Jacques Rosay, Chief Test Pilot and they were joined by Jacques Drappier, Chief Instructor Pilot.
