Adam Air Flight 574 Boeing 737-400 Crash In Indonesia Print

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Adam Air flight 574 lost contact with air traffic controllers the morning of January 1, 2007, and is assumed to have crashed in Indonesia.

The NTSB said the flight was conducted by a Boeing 737-400 (PK-KKW) and was supposed to fly a route from Java to Salawesi. There were approximately 100 persons aboard.

The NTSB is sending a team to assist the government of Indonesia, with senior investigator Robert Benzon designated as U.S. Accredited Representative. In addition to an NTSB structures investigator, representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing Aircraft Company and General Electric Engines will join the team.

Broadcast news reports aired as this story is published claim the Indonesian Air Force is reporting the wreckage has been located on a mountainside.
