Published reports state that the merger talks between United Airlines and US Airways are off, at least for now.

While the merger would have created the world's biggest airline, the carrier that resulted would have no doubt reduced service and staffing to cut costs.

Neither carrier has scored very well on customer satisfaction so it boggles the mind what flying a merged air carrier would be like.
