Airliners.net Head Paulo Emanuele Killed in Crash of Marchetti At Santa Monica

Aviation media lost a major publisher on January 28, 2009, when the General Manager of Airliners.net, Paulo Emanuele, was killed along with one other person in the crash of a Marchetti while departing Santa Monica Airport's runway 21 (SMO) in California.

It appears the plane impacted on the airport itself and not homes or other airport neighbors were affected. Initial reports indicated it was a Siai-Marchetti SF-260C but updated data show it as a turbo-prop variant.
