There are published reports that say Airbus is threatening to cancel the A400M military transport plane unless the contracts it has are renegotiated.

The Associated Press is citing Airbus spokesman Stefan Schaffrath. The AP says that on 5 January 2010 Schaffrath said that ending the overbudget A400M military transport program "is a scenario" if the military plane project "continues to contribute to a loss."

The plane has finally flown and its performance niche is unique at that moment (range/payload/runway performance).
