The difficult conditions soldiers face obtaining reliable power in-theater are lessened with Acumentrics’ Rugged Uninterruptible Power Supplies (RUPS) with lithium ion battery packs, says the company in a press release. Dramatic weight reduction, extended run time and longer battery life mean a lighter, more powerful and mobile RUPS solution for battlefield command and control.
32 lb weight savings, 25% More Run Time and Up to 4 times Greater Cycle Life
Expressly designed to offer a lower weight profile, these new lithium ion battery packs provide a better alternative to sealed lead acid batteries, which have a much lower energy density. With the capability to supply up to 86% more energy per pound under a 2,400-watt load than the average sealed lead acid battery, Acumentrics’ packs are the best energy source available for RUPS products, said the statement.
According to Acumentrics, greater cycle life ensures users can rely on lithium ion battery packs to power communications equipment and ISR devices in the field. These batteries offer long life, perform in extreme conditions, and remain charged during storage. This all amounts to a solid solution for rugged power supplies.
“Motivated primarily by the electric vehicle market, lithium battery technology has greatly improved in terms of high power performance and safety,” commented Ersson Zapata, SVP Manufacturing and Technical Operations at Acumentrics. “Partnering with cell suppliers, we constructed battery packs that are compatible with our current product line as well as products on our roadmap.
Thanks to their extensive experience supplying war fighters with reliable power supplies, Acumentrics’ technical team understands the need for equipment to not only be safe, but also rugged and reliable. To this end, the new battery packs can replace the company’s sealed lead acid batteries in most fielded Acumentrics RUPS products.
“For some time now, customers have been seeking a solution that offers both system weight reduction, as well as improved battery performance,” said Steven Graves VP RUPS Sales and Marketing at Acumentrics. “I am delighted to assist our customers with this power innovation, which will enhance our product line.”
